What a difference a year makes. Last winter, I was tooling around town impersonating an interior designer, filling my SUV with sample tiles, fabric swatches and color-coded binders full of inspiration photos. I couldn’t wait to be where I am right now: enjoying a mug of warm chai in the two-story great room of my new coastal contemporary home.
Shane Klepko, vice president of Harwick Homes today announced the luxury custom homebuilder won a prestigious 2018 Chrysalis Award for Remodeling Excellence. Harwick’s wining entry in the Residential Specialty Item under $50,000 was selected for its remarkable transformation of a three-story staircase in a Naples luxury single family estate home.
“To win an award in this highly competitive category is quite an achievement,” says Ken Kanline, Director of the Chrysalis Awards.
Harwick Homes ranks 58th on the 2018 REMODELING 550 list of the nation’s biggest full-service remodelers, Harwick Homes announced today.
The REMODELING 550 brings together the nation’s 550 biggest full-service remodelers, replacement contractor / home improvement firms, insurance restoration firms, and franchisors. Because the full-service and replacement firms operate so differently, the REMODELING 550 lists and ranks them separately.
The State of Florida first mandated statewide building codes during the 1970s at the beginning of the modern construction boom. The first law required all municipalities and counties to adopt and enforce one of the four state-recognized model codes known as the “state minimum building codes.”
In the early 1990s, a series of natural disasters, together with the increasing complexity of building construction regulation in vastly changed markets, led to a comprehensive review of the state building code system. In 2002, the Florida Legislature created a single state building code that is enforced by local governments and is updated every three years and may be amended annually to incorporate interpretations and clarifications with emphasis on uniformity and accountability.

Living in a high-rise condominium offers some serious perks. Among them: amazing views, luxurious amenities and a fabulous lack of responsibility.
And for Karen and Bill Bucy, who moved from Austin, Texas, to Naples in 2003, it was the ideal lifestyle. Their 2,700-square-foot residence in Bonita Bay certainly made living easy. Until, in 2009, they added Bichon Frise pups Sofi and Elli to the family.
