Harwick Homes and Collins & DuPont Interior Design Win National AURORA Award

Renowned interior designer Sherri DuPont, founder of Collins & DuPont Design Group, teamed up with luxury estate builder Harwick Homes to win a prestigious AURORA award during the 2017 Southeast Building Conference in Orlando.

Harwick Homes is included in an elite group of housing industry professionals from a 12 state region that received the esteemed AURORA Awards for new home construction and design excellence throughout the USA during an industry gala held earlier this month. DuPont accepted the award for best detailing over $2.0 million for a private family residence in Estuary at Grey Oaks & Country Club in Naples, Florida.

The nationally recognized AURORA Awards honor builders, designers, architects and other home building industry professionals from Texas to Virginia with projects and homes as far as California, Arizona, Chicago and Minnesota.

Harwick Homes president Mark Smith was thrilled for the team and credits the success to the hard work of superintendents, architects, suppliers and the multi-tasked creative designers. “We are honored to be a part of this great home building industry,” said Smith. “We work with designers who care so much about the homes we build and it makes us proud they are the finishing touch,” he adds.

“We were thrilled to be one of the big winners by unmasking the beauty of this magnificent home. It’s a testament to our dedication to meet our builders’ expectations while enhancing their customer’s vision for creativity, quality and design,” says DuPont. “The owners of this contemporary Italianate estate wanted an airy, “Zen-like” home that was all about highlighting their environment and Florida lifestyle,” she adds.

In the awards application, DuPont cited five products used in the design project that added value, design and efficiency including:

  • A cantilevered Lagos Blue quartz bench in the master bathroom
  • Mounted mosaic tile in the niche of the parlor fireplace wall and shell stone surrounding parlor
  • Sub-Zero and Wolf® appliances in the kitchen
  • Diamond bushed cream Marfil flooring and wide plank French Oak wood floors with marble transitions
  • Reclaimed teak outdoor dining table with concrete top on lanai

Presenting architectural designs by Gabriel Orengo of Visionary Residential Designs, the estate home features a master suite and three guest suites, four full baths and two half baths with 5,185 square feet of air-conditioned space and over 9,231 total square feet, including the home’s 1,761 square foot outdoor living room. While designed for masterful living in today’s fast-paced yet sophisticated lifestyle, contemporary, transitional influences can be felt throughout the home.

Poised on a lake, overlooking the golf course, breathtaking views are visible from 12-foot tall glass sliding doors in the home’s adjoining family room, dining room and parlor.

The foyer receives guests to the open parlor with an exquisite wood ceiling, a dramatic shell stone and tile fireplace wall and 12-foot sliding doors with transom windows. Gracefully pocketing, the sliders in the family and dining rooms retract to welcome the views into the space.

According to DuPont, custom ceiling designs allow definition of spaces while avoiding walls or barriers providing unobstructed views/access. Unconventional features in the kitchen like Austral Coffee Granite and Pompeii Leather Jacket quartz countertops at different heights to add dimension and a tile hood running vertically bring one’s eyes up to the window and ceiling details.

The ship-lapped tongue-and-groove ceiling in pastel white and walls in Southwest Silver Plate exudes a spa-like feel,” DuPont believes. The master bathroom is flooded with serenity as large format porcelain tile flows through the space to the shower outfitted with a custom under-lit Lagos Blue Quartz. The master suite overlooks a fountain and offers sweeping views of the outside garden. The master bathroom features his and her walk-in closets, wood floors and a one-of-a-kind freestanding shower with doors to an outside shower.

Outdoor features include a luxurious custom designed pool by Scott Windham of Windham Studio, an underwater spa and a large overhead pergola with cascading waterfall steps. Other features of this elegant home include artistic grey pavers with white seashells imbedded in each paver.
“We are very pleased with the finishes of this estate home,” said Smith. “This estate is about style and elegance, inside and out and it is the perfect home for our client,” he said. “Ultimately it’s their home and they have to love it.”
